Day 3: Sore Legs

April 11, 2012 log

While yesterday’s workout wasn’t very impressive, it hurt. And today hurts worse. No workout, and lots of soreness in my legs.

FOOD:

Meal 1: 3 eggs, 4 slices of bacon, coffee, creamer

Meal 2: southwest salad w/ grilled chicken (McDonald’s)

Meal 3: Protein smoothie – 1 cup coconut milk, mixed berries, protein powder, 2 tbsp peanut butter

Data:

  • Calories: 1341
  • Fat: 74g (50%)
  • Carbs: 79g (24%)
  • Protein: 95g (28%)

I’m really having a hard time getting enough food. I haven’t been hungry, though, so maybe I’m ok. I have a feeling that if I really wasn’t getting enough, my body would be telling me by being hungry all the time.

Day 2 – Pull-ups, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Squats

April 10, 2012 log

Workout

2 rounds for time:

  • 10 pull-ups (chair assisted)
  • 20 push-ups
  • 30 sit-ups
  • 40 squats

Time: 13:59

Cash-out: 1 mile run – 8:37

First strength type workout (metcon or otherwise) in a long, long time. And it felt like it. Legs were nice and rubbery during the run, even after only 80 air squats. I’ve got a long way to go.

Food:

Meal 1: 3 eggs, 3 slices bacon, coffee, creamer

Meal 2: milk, protein powder, mixed berries

Meal 3: apple, peanut butter

Meal 4: 1/2 salad – Panera Bread – Steak and Blue Cheese salad

Data:

  • Calories: 1488
  • Fat: 91g (55%)
  • Carbs: 87g (23%)
  • Protein: 87g (23%)

Better – but still need more food.

Day 1 – Starting over

Workout:

I ran late last night, and my knee was hurting a bit more than I was comfortable with, so I took today off.

Food

Breakfast: Protein Smoothie w/fruit, coffee

Lunch: Chicken, broccoli, butter

Dinner: Apple, peanut butter

Not enough food.

Reboot

I was doing pretty good. Lost 10+ pounds. Clothes fit a lot better. Then Christmas – everything fell apart. In the past 3 months, I’ve almost gained (or lost?) everything back. Time to start over.

Day 56 – Runs, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Squats

January 2, 2012

Workout:

Did my own made-up circuit today. Sort of like something you might see with Crossfit. I’ve done this one before…

3 Rounds for time:
1/3 mile run, 25 push-ups, 30 sit-ups, 40 squats

Round 1: 7:07
Round 2: 8:19
Round 3: 9:29
Total: 24:57

So, in all I did:
1 mile run, 75 push-ups, 90 sit-ups, 120 squats

This was hard. I was sucking wind on the runs. Not sure what my pace was, but it slowed, haha. I’d say I was at a 7:30 mile pace or so for the first one – maybe faster. Probably ended around an 8:30 pace or slower by the last round.

Food:

Sort of had a mini-cheat this evening. Everything was clean until dinner. We saw Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (I didn’t really like it, btw), and then went to the Cheesecake Factory. I told Angela that I was just going to cheat on the way in, and she convinced me not to. She’s so good to me.

I ordered the Caesar Salad, which probably isn’t so primal to begin with. Got it with grilled chicken. But, I had two of their little bread slices with butter. Combined with the croutons in my salad, and that’s more bread than I’ve had since Christmas. Plus, my stomach isn’t feeling all that great.

If you think of the 80/20 rule, this was definitely my 20%.

Day 55 – 2012 is here

January 1, 2012

Workout: None

Food: Clean

Not a lot to say about today. Haven’t worked out in a few days. This is a recurring problem.

Weight: 196.6

Day 54

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I actually went to a pot-luck thing at church tonight and didn’t cheat. You’re proud of me, I’m sure.

No workout – food was clean.

Day 53 – Weekly Weigh In

Weigh-In

Weight: 195.8 lbs (-13.4 lbs)
BF%: 22.5% (-3.5%)

My weight was unusually low, which always happens the morning after I run in the evening. BF% actually is up just a touch from last week – these are based on my stomach measurement.

I didn’t know what to expect after Christmas break. Holding steady is sure a lot better than losing ground.

No workout today – clean food.

Day 52 – 3.65 Mile Run

December 29, 2011

Workout

I did the 3.65 mile route in my neighborhood today. Bad idea – it was cold! I figured I’d warm up once I got going. Not so. My legs, face, neck, and hands hurt. My lungs did too – in fact, my whole chest cavity felt frozen from breathing in all that cold air. I know – whine, whine. Oh well – going to the treadmill in the gym next time.

3.65 mile run
Time:  32:52 (9:00 pace)

Not impressed with my time, but I was struggling. Last time I worked out, I ran this route and finished a full two minutes faster. Sadly, that was 9 days ago. I need to be consistent!

Food

Ate clean today.

Weight

198.6. Dropping from Christmas. Almost to my pre-Christmas weight.

Day 51

December 28, 2011

Not a lot to report today. No workout (for a while, now…). Food was clean.

I dropped four pounds overnight and weighed in at 200.4
